New Bell Facility Strengthens Utility Pole Supply in Southern U.S.
Expanding peeling facility in De Queen, Arkansas
Bell is expanding our manufacturing facility in De Queen, Arkansas, growing our production capacity across the southern United States.
The facility—our first in Arkansas—enables us to produce Southern Yellow Pine utility poles more efficiently and locates our inventory closer to customers throughout the region.
“We’re excited to become part of the De Queen community and build strong local partnerships as we grow,” said Tom Bell, President of Bell Lumber & Pole. “This investment allows us to expand capacity, strengthen our regional presence and create opportunities that support both our customers and the people who make this work possible.”
Supporting quality from start to finish
The De Queen facility plays a critical role in Bell’s utility pole manufacturing process, focusing on peeling, conditioning and interior storage operations.
At the facility, raw timber is transformed into high-quality utility poles designed to withstand demanding environmental conditions. Peeling helps ensure consistent quality, while conditioning improves durability and long-term performance. Interior storage capabilities also help organize inventory and ensure poles are ready for efficient delivery as needed by customers.
Investing in long-term partnerships
Bell currently employs 17 team members in De Queen and expects to create additional jobs over the next two years as operations continue to grow.
“Bell Lumber & Pole’s first investment in Arkansas is a testament to our strong forestry industry, hardworking and talented workforce, and thriving economy,” said Governor Sanders. "By producing utility poles here at home, this project will strengthen domestic supply chains and infrastructure and bring new opportunity to rural Arkansas communities.”
Added Tom Bell, “This new De Queen facility reflects our commitment to serving utility customers while supporting the communities where we operate—today and far into the future.”
