Celebrating 100 years of deep roots in Canada
This year, Bell Lumber & Pole Canada is proudly celebrating 100 years of operations, sustainable growth and community impact across Canada.
It all began in 1925, when our founder M.J. Bell secured timber options on ten one-square-mile limits near Sugar Lake, British Columbia, and established a pole yard in nearby Lumby.
Today, Bell Lumber & Pole Canada is headquartered in Vernon, British Columbia, with a treatment plant in Roblin, Manitoba, Canadian peeling yards, and a dedicated team of 63 employees across Canada—supported by NorthWind Forest Products and other strategic partners.
As a vital link in our diversified North American supply chain, Bell’s Canadian operations are key to ensuring a consistent supply of utility poles and other wood products. By leveraging a wide range of wood species, advanced treatments and integrated logistics, we’re uniquely positioned to meet evolving customer needs across the continent.
Family-owned, value-driven
Now led by Tom Bell—M.J. Bell’s great-grandson and fourth-generation owner—Bell Lumber & Pole is committed to continuing the legacy of small-business values and quality utility structures and services that have defined our Canadian operations for a century. And with our new partner, Quanta Services, we’re more excited than ever about the opportunities ahead to grow and expand our presence in Canada.
“What we’ve achieved in Canada over the past 100 years is truly remarkable,” Bell said. “It’s a testament to the trust of our long-time customers and the hard work of our employees. Looking ahead, we're excited to continue growing our operations, delivering quality utility products and services, and making a positive impact in the communities we serve.”
At Bell, our mission is to radically love and influence lives. We’re passionate about helping our employees, suppliers, customers and communities thrive—both in Canada and the U.S.
