Jay’s family, who owns a 320-acre tree farm in the heart of Wisconsin, has counted on Bell for more than 25 years to maintain a thriving ecosystem that serves a variety of purposes—from producing fuel wood, saw logs, pulp wood and utility poles, to hunting and recreation.  

Around every five years, Bell conducts selective timber harvesting to ensure Jay’s land remains productive and profitable. After each harvest, the family receives a check that helps cover ongoing expenses like property taxes and liability insurance. Bell also creates a Managed Forest Plan in accordance with the Wisconsin DNR’s Managed Forest Law (MFL), which is updated annually. 

Jay and his family are actively involved with their woodlands, and own and operate a sawmill. During harvests, Bell not only marks trees for poles, they also identify white pines that Jay’s family can cut for their sawmill.  

In addition to managing individual properties, Bell also fosters a strong sense of community among woodland owners by hosting annual meetings where they share insights on forest management, new regulations and best practices.
