Designed to complement the architecture of the historic Lawrenceville School campus, this dining hall features Douglas fir glulam beams, half-circle glulam trusses, and lower quarter-circle glulam brackets that support a heavy slate roof and iron chandeliers. The design also includes steel tension rods and exposed bolts.
Abbott Dining Hall, Lawrenceville, NJ
The overhanging roof of this interactive exhibit center was built from Southern Yellow Pine glulam beams and rafters, with tongue-and-groove roof decking, all supported by round wood poles.
Scott Visitor Center, Summit Bechtel Reserve, WV
Standing 14 stories tall, with a diameter of 536 feet, this impressive dome was built with 781 Douglas fir glulam beams and 108 miles of Douglas fir decking. It can withstand 60 pounds per square foot of snow and winds up to 80 miles per hour.
